There are so many things that I am thankful for at this moment. I try on a regular basis to practice reflecting on what I am grateful for; a healthy child, a supportive and loving partner, genuine friends… But this year I find myself being especially thankful for the strong women in my life; the ones that have overcome their share of stress and heartache. The ones that choose to rise above any negativity and pain, that forge on with love and hope.
I come from a long line of women who were healers, helpers and problem solvers. Today, two of my biggest supporters are my Mom and Grandma (Grams). They have taught me to stand strong with integrity, to be independent, to face things head on and to be fearless. Strengths that I have drawn on in the last couple of weeks as I make the choice to hit the ground running with Screw Perfection. Even though I am embarking on this journey alone, I know that I am never really alone.
This Thanksgiving I am thankful for all of the encouragement, pride and belief that people have expressed towards me since I have begun to share my journey and plans for the future. I am proud to carry with me the strength and courage of the women that have come before me and I hope to pass these gifts onto my daughter. I am moving forward with love and certainty that everything is exactly as it should be in this moment.
